- Always tailor your covering letter and CV to each job you apply for.
- Ask about the format of the interview.
- Practice interviews with a friend, mentor etc and ask for constructive feedback.
- Talk about your achievements in detail.
- Always follow the interviewer's lead.
- Be ready to explain gaps in your CV.
- Be prepared to talk about the environment and strategic issues facing the interviewer's organisation.
- Research the prospective employer's strengths.
- When asked about your weaknesses, do not supply stock responses.
- Understand the concept of competency-based interviews.
